In December [2003] Troll and I visited our friends Narelle and Yves in Scotland and while out and about together one weekend at Fort William, took a slight detour back to their place via Fort Augustus and Inverness.
Fort Augustus is a town at the start of Loch Ness. It doesn't appear to be particularly large but then we only stayed about an hour. It's pretty and a convenient stopping point to refill the car and take a break. A cafe half-way up the hill below makes nice hot chips, a nice surprise considering the Scots' love of soggy undercooked chips then drowned in vinegar.
This Nessie and daughter shaped hedge is beside the water lock gates near where the town's main road meets the highway.
This is at the top of the water locks.
While we were visiting it started to lightly drizzle and we were fortunate to have this double rainbow appear. Seeing that the end was on land, Troll and I chased it, but well, rainbows are shy and it fled out onto the loch.
